Biogas purification and adsorption storage system

This system combines new adsorption storage technology with our wealth of experience in gas purification to provide a more effective way to use biogas (including digester gas).

・Removes hydrogen sulfide and siloxane from biogas.
・Continually measures siloxane concentrations.
・Increases biogas methane concentrations.
・Offers 3-4 times the storage density of conventional solutions at equivalent storage pressures.
・We can propose effective biogas use options, including for power generation, automobile fuel, and hydrogenation.

Biogas purification and adsorption storage system

Overview

The advantages of adsorption gas storage

The system stores refined, concentrated biogas in a tank filled with a porous adsorbent. A buffer tank is used to absorb fluctuations in gas generation and production, allowing for demand-flexible provision. This adsorption gas storage system is what makes it possible to have effective biogas adsorption in such a small tank. In general, gas storage uses compression. However, increasing storage capacity in such cases also requires cylinders that can withstand high pressures. Adsorption storage allows for higher room temperature gas adsorption at lower pressures than compression storage. This is made possible by a property of the porous adsorbent material. The material's fine pores can adsorb methane at a density close to liquid form. This storage method also allows gas to be purified while it is being stored. Siloxane found in biogas, which can have adverse effects on gas engines and other biogas equipment, can be removed during storage. This allows the storage method to be used with cogeneration systems. Adsorption storage offers effective biogas with the added advantage of lowered equipment costs.
